Diane Volcansek, Director
Greetings! Thank you for taking the time to become acquainted with our wonderful preschool program! I love being a part of the Christ Presbyterian Preschool family and hope you will join us! Having grown up in Vienna, moved around the country, I am happy to be back in my home area, around extended family and re-cultivating roots. I hold a BS in Human Development and have always enjoyed working with young children. I have over 10 years experience in the preschool classroom and over 6 years administration experience. I have two wonderful children ages 18 and 10 that keep me busy in life. I enjoy sailing, gardening, watching BBC movies with my daughter and building Legos with my son. Preschool is a “family” experience as your child is introduced into the world of schooling and I look forward to being a part of that process.
About Our Teachers
The teachers at CPP are Christians and are experienced in working with children. In addition they are kind, caring, nurturing and loving. They guide the children in developing cognitively, physically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually. CPP staff celebrates and teaches Christian truths at all times. Teachers lead the children in saying blessings, singing Christian songs and learning Bible stories, as well as leading them in secular songs and stories.
The lead teachers are required to attend a minimum of 6 hours of professional development in early childhood education each year. All teachers are required each year to furnish proof of a negative TB test. A criminal background check is done on each teacher through the Virginia State Police. In addition, a Child Abuse/Neglect class is done on a yearly basis.
All our teachers possess a college degree and many hold a Bachelor’s Degree in early childhood education or a related field. Both teachers and assistants continue to stay current in early childhood education by participating in professional development classes and seminars. All of the teachers and office staff, including the Director, are CPR certified and have First Aid training. Many of our staff are also certified in Emergency Medication Administration Training (EMAT).
